All of my photography
in one place.
Client: Student Projects
This photography portion contains seven separate collections of works. Each series displays a different subject/concept to show the full range of my photography abilities. There is also a wide range of the types of shots captured with different apertures and shutter speeds to better capture the specific themes of each collection.
Night Life
This series of photos features photos taken at night and/or with low lighting. I played around with dramatic lighting and contrast to show the beauty of nighttime. I tried to capture moments of the night that felt quieter to contrast the artificial light making up the space.
Epitome of Man
This series of photos is a commentary on gender expression and the expectations of how a man should look. It features photos taken of one of my friends, Alistair. The title of the series is not only a nod to his photogenic nature, but also because Alistair presents more femininely, which is often frowned upon by society. This series is meant to rewrite what is the “Epitome of Man”.
PDA: Public Dress Anxiety
This series of photos covers the theme of anxiety. They feature me wearing clothing that I like in the isolation of my room versus how I feel wearing those same outfits out in public. It’s meant to discuss my anxiety with wearing more revealing or “stand-out” clothing.
Everyday People
This series of photos captures three different experiences that are looked over by the broader society. I captured three different topics: taking hormones as a trans person, daily life with disability, and taking care of black hair. I focused more on the actions these individuals were doing in their daily life rather than capturing the specific people in order to show how these actions are done by millions of people everyday.
In Nature
This series of photos features different scenes in nature that I shot throughout the year. I wanted to get a good sense of diversity between organic nature and non-organic or manmade nature. I did this to discuss the relationship between these two parts of nature rather than to discuss their divide, as I felt this “co-habitation” or “blending” of organic and manmade environments was an interesting subject.
Apex
This series features mostly candid photos of my friends. I wanted this series to show the highs of life that I was luckily able to capture through my lens. This collection is full of movement and blurred images, which only further serves how these moments are often fleeting and how they should be cherished.
A Lesson In Betrayal
This series showcases a story I created with these images. It is inspired by old Film Noir movies, which explains why the images are in black and white with intense shadows. It features a detective investigating a murder case, which can be gathered from the installation image, as seen above. I also edited these photos to add to the tone of the theme, such as editing in the smoke for the cigarettes and the lighter in the hand of the detective.
